About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Server & System Administrator to join our IT team in Tanzania. You will be responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and performance of our server infrastructure and end-user systems. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills.
What You'll Do
Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows Server & Linux)
Monitor system performance, uptime, and availability using appropriate tools
Manage user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory / LDAP services
Administer backup and disaster recovery systems to ensure data integrity
Configure and maintain network services including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewalls
Apply security patches, updates, and hardening measures across all systems
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
Document system configurations, procedures, and incident reports
Support virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
Collaborate with IT team and business stakeholders on infrastructure projects
What We're Looking For
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Minimum 2 years of proven experience in server and systems administration
Solid knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL)
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS/DHCP management
Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, Acronis, or similar)
Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPN)
Ability to work independently and manage priorities under pressure
Strong communication skills in English and Kiswahili
Must be legally authorised to work in Tanzania
Nice to Have
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, MCSA, RHCSA, or CCNA
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Knowledge of containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, or Grafana
Exposure to scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) for automation
